Ceiling Fan Light Shades

A Little Shade to Brighten Up Your Day

Ceiling fan light shades are extremely popular among homeowners, and people who have ceiling fans in general. While you tend to have more light when you leave your lights uncovered, it doesn't quite work as well when it is covered, just about everyone would say that any lamp looks tacky when the bulbs are sitting there exposed unless they are a specialty light bulb, and for some reason everyone still has a tenancy to cover those up as well.

The first thing you need to do when you think about getting some ceiling fan light shades is decide what style you want. There are quite a few and you need to pick a style that goes along well with the layout of the room, it's style, and of course your tastes. In the end this is your project and you need to decide what it is you like, or if you want to remodel your entire room to match the ceiling fan lamp shades.

Some of the types that you can get are plain glass, alabaster, air brushed, stained glass, and even specialty types that look like footballs and baseballs. You probably already have something in mind, some type of design or perhaps a particular glass type, and that means the next step is actually trying to find it.

When looking for ceiling fan light shades you will have one of two places to begin your search. The first and most obvious choice is to go to the store. There are many home improvement stores that will have just about everything you could ever want or ask for, and all you need to do is look or ask a sales representative to help you find just the thing that you're looking for. Remember that if you shop at a retail store you are probably going to be paying retail prices, so be prepared for that if you are on a budget.

You can also turn to used stores for your needs, and you will probably be able to find lots of ceiling fan light shades there, but also remember that you won't have as large of selection because second hand shops don't get their stock from a warehouse.

The next thing that you can do is try to shop online. There are a lot of websites, some of them selling used, and some new, but chances are you will get a much better selection online than you did in the store. There might also be some deals offered that you didn't see when you were shopping in the store!

Remember that some ceiling fan light shades will allow more light to pass through than others, so if you are in the neighborhood for excess light then you need to get a shade that's a little more transparent. If you don't mind having less light then you can get one that's either stained glass or airbrushed depending on your tastes.

While not entirely necessary, they do help liven the room up a bit, and they definitely make your ceiling fan look a lot better whether it is a brass ceiling fan or some over type of material. If you are installing a ceiling fan then make sure you look into ceiling fan light shades!
